The Boittets wetland
Description
The vegetation of the Boittets peat bog are typical of high altitude bogs wooded with spruce trees. Various species are particular to this habitat.
Alpine Newt (Triturus alpestris): Found from March to June in fish free waters, it lives on land after reproducing.
Stiff Club-Moss (Lycopodium annotinum): This plant favours wooded peat bogs.
Intermediate Wintergreen (Pyrola media): This protected species likes acid soils.
Bogbean (Menyanthes trifoliata): It is found in peaty meadows and marshes.
Peat Moss (Sphagnum): A moss without roots, it is an essential species for a peat bog.
